Today's Find

I stopped in a thrift store today and stumbled across this great stash of vintage patterns from the 50s. And in my size! I'm not sure that I will make them up. They're all extremely form-fitting. I don't think I have the kind of form that calls for a "wiggle dress". But I couldn't resist them for fifty cents each! I also found the fabric in the background, a great silk imitation, for $3.00. There is 3 yards there and I'm hoping to be able to squeeze a dress out of it.

If you ever find any in my size that are that cute BUY THEM or email me and I'll buy them. Although, I never go out to the valley. Were they in Eagle River or the Valley. Or are you going to keep your stash-find secret?? ;)

I found them at the Salvation Army in the Valley. Usually a total bust there. Just one of those freak finds. What size and styles/era do you like? I saw some old ones elsewhere but didn't pick them up because they weren't my size.

I'm a 10 in the vintage Vogue patterns. I think it is a 31" bust or 32". They are the only ones I have tried. You patterns are super cute. I like the 50s and 60s. I can return the favor although I do not get out much with the three munchkins. Value Village sometimes has some good stuff but you have to look long and hard to see if the pattern is complete.

Charity, have you thought about making art for your new sewing room from vintage pattern envelopes? You could scan the envelopes and either print them full size for framing or print them in different sizes for a collage.

It's a great idea, but I think every possible inch is going to be maxed out for shelves, cabinets, bookshelves, cabinets and pegboard. The one little bit of wall I was able to scrape up, I decided to turn into a quilt flannel wall for laying out blocks. :(
