And now for something big, ugly and dangerous...

I was sitting at my computer tonight when the dogs start going crazy in the neighborhood. So I take a peek out the window and there are twin moose calves feasting on the bushes in the yard. So I grab my camera and go out to take a picture (at a safe distance) when the motion light on the garage comes on and I hear the squeaking of snow of something big coming towards me. Before I can even get back in the house a huge moose comes around the corner. These things have killed people with one kick to the head. And a mother with two calves? She hadn't seen me yet so I figured I was better off holding still where I was then draw her attention by moving. So I froze till she was past me, took a quick picture and dashed for the house. Not quite as cute as babies with scottie dogs, but what the hey....

Wow! that is a really large mammal. I live in Palo Alto, (California) usually I only have to worry about squirrels... thank you for sharing.
