those adorable tiny japanese paper umbrellas? I've looked everywhere locally. Can't find them anywhere. And cute pinwheels in primary colors. All I can find are nasty silver metallic things. :( It's making me grumpy...

hmmm last time I seen those was at a Kitchen Supply place, they had all sorts of knives, crockery and party doo-hickeys! and also a Reject shop ($2 shop)... haven't seen them for a wee while but I'd try shopfitters too, they often have odds and sods in them..

Never heard of Reject Shop or Shopfitters. We have so little shopping here in Alaska. However, we do have an excellent kitchen supply store and I hadn't thought of looking there! Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a try.
how about orientaltrading.com? hope this helps :)
Hi Charity,
I have been following your blog for a while now, because I love all of your ideas.
I don't know how quickly you need the little umbrellas, but here is a website that has quite a few options.
www.orientaltrading.com
I did searches for "umbrellas" and "parasols."
I've never ordered from this company, but I have received a lot of their catalogs in the mail. So, I can't really vouch for their service, but their prices are good, and I'm sure the quality of the little umbrellas would be fine.
Is this for your party? I can't remember--when is your party?
I have enjoyed following all of your projects for the upcoming party.
Charity, I`ve just read your 100 skirt project, and I think it is so great, I would send you a few skirt too!! I think I make as much as I can, and next week I mail them to you. I started to make size 7-8 skirts. I cheked the size chart, because I have 2 young boys, and I dont really have any pattern for girls so I drafted these ones.
Best, Kriszta
Hi Sue - Nice to "see" you here. I've been meaning to get back over to the CSDI Board, but have been so busy with things. Thanks for the tip on the OTC. I've seen their catalogs too, but never ordered from them. I was hoping to find something local. I hate paying shipping. :( But I guess with gas prices the way they are, it's not always cheaper to run around searching locally anymore. The sewing bee is tomm. and I wanted the items for the party, but would like some little umbrellas on hand in general for dressing up desserts, drinks and such. I also had a hard time finding the long decorative toothpicks for kabobs. Funny how the weird things you see, but never need are suddenly gone when you want them...

Kriszta - How wonderful! Thank you SO much for your participation. I am touched. You can email me at lovelace at mtaonline.net for my address. I can't tell you how much this is appreciated. You're very sweet.
We can usually get them at the local Asian Market. If you don't find them, or don't want to pay shipping for Oriental Trading, let me know and I'll try to get some for you. I've been wanting to take a trip there lately anyway. ;-)
Thanks for the comment on my blog! It was a fun surprise to stop by here and see my kid in your sidebar! Haha!
That is still one of my all-time favorite outfits and favorite pics, Beki. You did such a good job on that one. I loved the metal backdrop. I bet your sweetie is all grown up by now! :( :(
