Lindsay - absolutely no problem with doing a ruffled, tiered, full, circle skirt, etc. I probably should not have designated A-line to begin with. I was thinking that would be the minimum silhouette as far as width that would allow for a wide range of fit. I was wanting to avoid slim, zippered skirts with set in waistbands. Distribution will be more efficient if fit can accommodate more than one waist measurement. I'm absolutely confident that your skirt will be PERFECT. I got a package notice yesterday and got all excited thinking it might be your skirt, but it was the phone book! I will post immediately upon receipt of your skirt.
Lisa - thanks, but what's truly impressive are the directors, teachers, house parents, financial supporters and construction teams who devote so much to Shadow Of His Wing orphanage.
Vintage Threads is home to The Hundred Skirts Project, a service project to benefit The Shadow Of His Wing Orphanage in Guatemala. The goal is to sew 100 Skirts, each unique, each with a matching tee and each with a special embellishment of some sort (applique, beading, trim, ruffle, pocket, belt, piping, etc.) As I began to sew skirts and write about my project, interest in the online blogging and sewing community soared. Comments and email poured in asking to be included in the project. Of course I was thrilled and happy to have participation from others. It now appears that, thanks to the generousity of the online sewing community, we will exceed our goal. If you are interested in joining The Hundred Skirts Project, email me at lovelace@mtaonline.net. Below you will find our count. The SKIRTS STILL TO ARRIVE are the skirts that have been promised, but not yet received. The Skirts Received Total are skirts that are now actually in my physical possession and ready for mailing.
SKIRTS STILL TO ARRIVE: Deadline Passed, Shipping Soon SKIRTS RECEIVED: 103 Skirts TOTAL PLEDGED: 114 Skirts
The list below is a resource that I hope you will find helpful in making beautiful things and learning new skills. I am happy to share these tutorials with you. However, they are my original material and are not to be printed elsewhere, please. Enjoy!

So cute. Mine should be there soon. It's really full compared to what you've been doing. Feel free to send it back if you want me to modify it.
I am so impressed by your 100 Skirt Project! Every one of them is adorable...such a great thing to do!
