Here Comes the Bride!

A pretty little veil awaits the blushing bride on a charming French boudoir chair. Sweet bridal gift tag makes a pretty package topper or bridal shower favor. Made with vintage lace and antique millinery. While I have only the first one on Etsy at the moment, I have enough materials left to make 5 or 6 more, if needed.

Wildly Whimsical Children's Tags

I found this adorable vintage children's book recently. It had very colorful, whimsically drawn children and animals. I just adored the illustrations and the book was only a quarter so I snatched it right up. Wasn't sure what I'd do with it, but was fascinated by the graphics. This is what they became...

A Really Rotten Movie

This seems to be our weekend for "enjoying" really rotten movies. First, there were the Star Trek DVDs we watched at home. And today we watched Dragon Wars at the local theater. There were only two good things about this movie. The first was that we amused ourselves greatly making snide remarks through the entire viewing. And the second was that it was a matinee, which made it slightly less painful that we actually paid for the experience.

Christmas Shadowbox

Just listed on Etsy...

Thanksgiving Paper Bag Ephemera Album

I've just listed this on Etsy but since I'm limited to five photos there, I'm posting the rest of them here as there is far more to be seen than I could possibly fit into five photos!

While Watching Star Trek...

Our eldest son, Caleb, gave Craig a set of Star Trek DVDs as a token of appreciation for some truck repairs his father did for him. We watched a few tonight. You forget how cheesy these things are! When we were kids they were soooo cutting edge. Now they're comedic fodder for endless snide asides as we watch Captain Kirk bravely go where no man has gone before. I sat and scissored away at a vintage book of children's Christmas stories, circa 1960s. An assortment of 28 tags were completed by the end of the first DVD and are on their way to Etsy.

Batter up!

In progress on the crafting table...a Thanksgiving paper bag album filled with vintage ephemera!

My Dog and His Shoe Obsession...

The above is a photo of a household war zone. Betwixt our dog, Copper, and myself. The battle goes like this...He slinks off to the shelves situated at the back of our foyer, selects the shoe of his choice and ferries it back to the homeschool room (We have not homeschooled for two years now, but nevermind, the moniker remains). Never the kitchen, living room or one of the bedrooms, mind you, only the homeschool room will do. He deposits it there and with a sigh of contentment drops to the floor beside it and pants heavily. As if this was some heroic feat and he is now completely spent. After awhile the novelty of this particular victory wears off and it's time for a new foray to the shoe rack. A new victim is selected. Another triumphant addition to the homeschool room floor, another moment of respectful silence in memory of the dead before yet another return to the foyer for more POWS. This continues until the room starts to resemble a scene from The Killing Fields.

After awhile I've had enough of this. I am weary of tripping over shoes and they're not contributing much to the decor. I pick them up, return them to the rack and issue the required, and what he and I both know is an utterly futile scolding. There is a cursory observation of the truce. But once my guard is down and I think peace has finally been given a chance, he slinks off for yet another assault on the ever-obliging footwear.
